Marbella, Spain! October 2017 and a little fall magic!

¡¡Fall Break in Marbella, España!!
We were ready for some sun and found INCREDIBLY inexpensive flights to the coast of Southern Spain. We landed in Malaga, did an AWESOME bike tour there, then rented a car and drove west towards Marbella.

Gram-Gram and Grandpa joined us on our adventure.
I had to laugh at this picture because we hardly check baggage anymore..we just take carry-ons!
Málaga, Spain!
Our flight landed in a different Spanish city, called Málaga, It was so pretty, and to our delight, very warm.
We started the trip off how we normally do- with  a BIKE TOUR. this bike tour was especially  fun as we were split up into 2 different teams. Team Chorizo (sausage) and Team Albóndiga (meatball). It was a competition to see who could answer the most questions about the city. We had the coolest tour guide too.
Ty & Josh at the Roman Amphitheater dating from the time of Augustus (1st century AD)
and the debut spot of Antonio Banderas!

Taking a break from riding bikes!

The coastline was spectacular!
We ♡ palm trees!

Off to Marbella We Go!!
The white-washed streets slayed us. They were absolutely picturesque.
A town square
Marbella has these cute walls lined with flower pots!
(PS. the statue is alive)

¡¡Gibraltar!!
We drove down to see Gibraltar, which is a a part in Spain, but England currently owns (much to many Spaniard's dismay). There have been major wars through the centuries as countries vied for this incredibly valuable piece of land. From its highest point, navy captains could see Europe its feet and Africa as it fills one horizon, while the gates to the Mediterranean and the Atlantic are on either side.  The journey to the top of the Rock rewards you with a truly breath-taking view, from a height of 1400 feet (426m)
Now its a tourist honey pot where many people live today.
The first thing that we did was go to the caves of Gibraltar. They were so amazing!
Gram~Gram & Grandpa
The stalactites and stalagmites were out of this world! VERY cool.

The naval vantage point from a spot where we could take a picture of it. x

Monkey Time!!
These monkeys were everywhere! Apparently Churchill brought them over and now they are a major attraction. They are NOT afraid of people at all and expect to be fed! haha!
The monkeys were hilarious! One even jumped on Anne's shoulder

Walking down the main street in Gibraltar
Canyoning!!
I found a company that took us canyoning through the mountains! It was crazy beautiful,
very exciting and even a little dangerous. I honestly can't believe Barb and Wayne did everything!
Including cliff jumping and rock climbing. We had our friends, the McMullen's from the Staines Ward, join us at the last minute on our adventure. Their family was amazing!
Cosette, Rachelle, Halle, Anne, Ty, Ike, Spencer, Brittany, Grandma, Grandpa & Josh

Beach Day!
Our beach day was so much fun! It was about a 4 minute walk from where we were staying. We went boogie bording, body surfing, had sand building competitions, volleyball, a football match, napping in the sun (because the sand was SO much more comfortable then the beds at the hotel)

Sand Castle Pros!

The 3 amigos after being buried in the sand.

Gorgeous sunsets!

We had the nicest time and completely enjoyed our time is this beautiful part of the world.
I just love this picture of the kids.

Home again Home again!
It's always so fun to have Barb and Wayne stay for a few extra days and boy did we have fun with them. The kids love playing games with Gram-Gram, while they wait for whatever deliciousness Grandpa is making...
or reading books while waiting for the train...

or going for dinner at the Flaming Cow for amazing burgers!
or attending a ward baptism for the beautiful Sister Alice from Africa
Sister Carol Balfe, Brother Sam Petchey, Sister Alice and Sister Sharp, Elder's DeTorbal and Duckworth
and the completely amazing thing....the MEN ASKED to come with us to the
SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EXTRAVAGANZA! And they shopped..happily...ALL DAY! It was a blast. x
 Anne (Grade 8 social)
...I know...I don't really want to talk about it...she's growing up too fast..

Pumpkin Patch with the McKeon Family!!!
Josh, Anne, John, Melanie, Emily, Tim, Stephen, and Kyle
I couldn't resist.. I don't want to forget these colors. The trees were spectacular around our home.

I have to laugh a little...look at the background of Josh's football match. haha!
Pretty sweet surroundings.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Josh and Ty as a viking and wolf!
Josh had a second dress up day so he went as a puppy and met up with his good friend Chase Maple.
Thorpe Park day with Ty, Anne, Kyle (who won the overstuffed dog!), Stephen and Melanie

A WALK ALONG THE THAMES IN STAINES
I know it probably gets a little ridiculous, but the fall here has been SO beautiful.
